How Cudy Mesh Works
While Cudy offers dedicated mesh devices, mesh functionality extends to most of their Wi-Fi routers and access points, supporting advanced features like those listed above. These devices act as hardware mesh controllers for other Cudy wireless devices on your network when running as the "primary node". This means all configurations are conveniently applied to the "primary node" and then dispersed across devices using their mesh protocol. This not only makes configuration a breeze but also creates an autonomous Wi-Fi network with seamless roaming. Plus, you can easily customise your mesh topology with a wide variety of Cudy products that support this feature.
Deploying the Mesh:
- Ethernet Mesh: As easy as it gets! Simply connect the LAN port from the controller to the WAN port of each node and everything happens automatically. Perfect for tech novices who'll see immediate signal improvement.
- Wi-Fi Mesh: Press the WPS/Mesh button on the main node then do the same on your mesh-capable device within range. Simple enough for anyone!
User Interface Setup:
For detailed configuration or troubleshooting, the intuitive UI comes to the rescue. Here's how to add nodes:
1. Navigate to "More Details" in the Mesh settings on the dashboard.
2. Click "Add" and the controller will search for compatible devices nearby.
3. Detected devices will be listed. Click "Add" to automatically configure them.
4. Refresh the page to see the newly added nodes under the controller.
You can also manage firmware updates of all mesh devices from the controller by going to the “Advanced Settings”, then clicking on the “Firmware” button under the “System” heading. Here you can upload a firmware file and the controller will know which device/s that firmware will apply to and allow you to begin the process.
Remember, once added, nodes are managed exclusively by the controller and can no longer be accessed directly.
Expanding Your Network:
Existing Cudy users can easily expand their coverage. The mesh feature supports up to 10 Ethernet nodes and 6 Wi-Fi nodes due to bandwidth limitations.
