MikroTik's operating system is based on the Linux kernel, known as MikroTik RouterOS, which is installed onto MikroTik's proprietary hardware, the RouterBOARD series. The operating system is licensed in increasing service levels, each releasing more of the available RouterOS features such as configuration, management and monitoring.
