Is a 12 Month Warranty Period Long Enough?
Is a 12 month warranty period long enough? This is a question that is asked quite often.

It can be answered by analysing product failure rate over time.

We refer to it as the bathtub curve and it illustrates the three phases in an average product's lifetime where they are most likely to fail.

First- off we have infant mortality, where, if there is a manufactures defect, it will show itself in the early stages of product use. This tapers away swiftly and therefore also decreasing failure rate.

Secondly, we have the normal life (useful life) of the product where it functions stably and where only a few failures occur unless stored or used incorrectly eg. too hot, mechanical failure or bashed around.

Lastly, there is wear-out failure which typically occurs after the 12 month warranty period. This is the final stage of the product lifecycle and failure is caused due to the use of the product, ie. wear and tear.

So in summary, If a product is going to fail due to manufacturer's defect this will happen within the first month of use. There is an increased chance of failure if it has been stored or used incorrectly. Once a product has reached it's end of life or wear-out phase, there will be an increase in failure rate.

In conclusion, a 12 month warranty is regarded adequate to address typical product failure occurrences.

To further illustrate this we include for your reference insight into our recorded warranty returns for 2018.
